Ain't No Rest For the Wicked

I'm watching the MTV Movie Awards right now and I just want to throw it out there that I'm afraid for younger generations. When Robert Pattinson wins an acting award the world is in some sorry, sorry shape. I get the excitement he's pretty nice to look at (when I say this I mean very randomly, usually he looks super dirty and high) but his acting is not even acting... it's pure ridiculousness.

On a whole different note, Eminem looked pretty pissed about having Bruno's junk in his face... I don't think that was planned at all. He looked realllllllll angry. Haha he's always the target of things at award shows, you think he'd be used to it by this point. Also I'm not the biggest LeAnn Rimes fan, but her singing Jizz in my Pants is pretty high up on the outrageous scale.

Anyways, I can pretty much sum up my past week by saying "How I Met Your Mother" that's pretty much all I've been doing is re-watching all the seasons, exciting I know, but it's so good! Alright, I've done more than that but it doesn't seem like it. I have been buying some scrapbook stuff because my friend is going to help me make a scrapbook about my Russia trip/backpacking last summer. All-in-all I spent like $175 (and people wonder why I think scrapbooking is dumb?!) but I suppose it will be almost worth it to preserve the memories haha.

On Saturday morning I went to the hairdresser and got my hair chemically straightened, I'll keep you all updated on how that works out... so far so good. I also got like an inch and a half cut off. It didn't seem like a lot at the time but now I feel like I'm missing a ton of hair, weird. I saw "Up" that night and it was good, it was a lot more emotional than I initially expected, but I want my very own Dug now because he was awesome!

Well I keep getting distracted by these dumb awards so I will stop for now, but I'm going to post a picture and a comment to keep you all thoroughly entertained. :) I do what I can!

Enjoy! Oh and check out the title song... good stuff, click on it!

Man... I know I say it every time, but for real... listen to the title song. Kate Voegele is da coolest (da is cooler than the, for future reference).

Anyways, as requested I have photos to offer of my adventures as an employee of MDOT.

1) My work station for 8 hours a day. Note my squishy plane and hard hat along with orange cone.

2) And now, what you have all been waiting for, the reflecty vest/hard hat/safety glasses combo. I know... you're jealous. Look at me... just standing in the middle of I-94 doing work.

There you have it. Other than getting those pictures my life has been pretty good. Friday I visited Allyssa in Grand Rapids. 'Twas great fun, we played some lacrosse, went to see the new Terminator with her mom and the Aaron's, and went to our friend Anna's for some hanging out. I left Saturday afternoon because she had to pack for a basketball camp and I was headed back to Lansing to get the last of my things (read: my tennis racket I forgot there). Sunday I did some laundry then went to the movie theatre I used to work at and saw 17 Again for free. It was funny, I'm not the biggest Zac Efron fan but I can respect his talent.

Monday was great, I went to Tyler's 2nd birthday party. Ty Ty is my cousin James's son, and probably one of the cutest kids ever (okay maybe I'm biased). I also got to see Peyton, tied for cutest kid ever, who is my cousin Nicole's son, he is turning 2 on June 6th. And I'm so excited because Nicole and Jenn (Ty Ty's mom) are both pregnant again! Due in 6 and 3 weeks respectively, with girls. I tried (unsuccessfully) to get them to agree to name one Jeanette but couldn't get even a middle name out of it. And because I love them both I am going to post pictures even though you probably don't want to see them haha.

First we have the birthday boy himself, Tyler, trying to figure out why I am interrupting his meal. Next up is Peyton looking terribly distraught that the presents are not for him haha.

While I was writing up the beginning of this post I was watching Yes Man with my bffaeaeaeae (yes, it's that serious) Nicole and have since renewed my love for Zooey Deschanel along with an apple soda from the ethnic foods section at Meijer. In more exciting news, while doing all that I put my busted iPhone (see post from a couple weeks ago to see how it happened) on Ebay and it sold for my Buy It Now price of $100 in less than 3 minutes! Woot! Now that's what I call a good night.

So all-in-all everything has been going good other than the fact that Prop 8 was not overturned, live and let live is what I say. Hopefully this fight will be over soon. Well that seems to be about enough for now.

Count Me In

My blog posts are becoming few and far between, but I had to post today on account of the title song came on my iPod and I wanted to share before I forgot about it and MORE IMPORTANTLY Just Add Walter named me a Queen for a Day. Woot!

All I have to do is follow some seemingly easy rules and reflect on how awesome I am. Rules are as follows:
1. List seven things that make us awe-summm.
2. Pass the award on to seven bloggers we love.
3. Tag those bloggers to let them know that they are now Queens of All Things Awe-Summm.
4. Don't forget to link to the Queen that tagged us.
5. If you would like, copy the pic and put it on your sidebar so everyone knows that you're a Queen.

And without further ado, my seven things that make me aweeee-some!

1. My music/DVD collection. Let's just say I could probably compete with Best Buy if I put all my stuff for sale. I have so many movies it's kind of scary and more music than is healthy. I really like music (And the nominee for most obvious statement of the year---Me) and if you're new to my blog or just forget, always click on the blog titles for a link to a song that I think you should hear!

2. The fact that in the past 5 years I have easily spent more money on concerts and concert merch than I've spent shopping at the mall. ("Hello, my name is Jeanette, and I'm addicted to concerts." "Hi Jeanette" so on and so forth.)

3. I'm a only child of a single mother, which basically means that my mom and I are like Rory and Lorelei (Did I mention that along with movies I love t.v.?) I don't know what I'd do without my mom but I'm pretty sure it'd be similar to how zombies behave in movies minus the whole eating of brains thing.

4. I have 4 tattoos, and definitely want more, but out of respect for my mom I will probably stop for a while, or at least hide them very well.

5. I'm from a town called Paw Paw, I mean come on, what more do I need to say! I grew up in the country and don't think I would have had it any other way.

6. I love to make people laugh *ponders ways to be funnier* most of the time I succeed. Laughter truly is the best medicine and I'm the Dr. Mario of laughter (err-something along those lines.)

7. I will pretty much talk to/become friends with anyone, it's a wonder I didn't get abducted as a child. I love to hear other peoples stories because everyone is different and unique, just like all of you beautiful people reading this. So even if you aren't tagged down at the bottom, do this and send me a link so I can learn about you too!

And now that you made it through that here are my seven queens for the day:
1. A Million Miles From Everywhere (Just moved her blog, send her love!)
2. Caress the Fro
3. Chatabox
4. FWB
5. Go Out & Get Busy
6. Jessy
7. La Coeur Vide

And before I go I must express my sadness over Adam Lambert's loss. Both Kris and Adam were very talented, but Adam could pull off almost everything, I know he is going to do great! Other than that devastating loss not much has been going on. Work is great, my life is super hectic but I'm getting it slowly under control. Man, it's almost 11:00 p.m. which equals bed time for me. Night!

Ahhh, quick update. The rest of the week was good, I'm really liking my internship (and for those of you interested I will post a picture of the uniform soon.)

Friday Maria came up and we got ready and went to Fazoli's for dinner then to Brian's for a party. The party was so much fun, normal ridiculousness that goes on and so many great stories. They got two warnings that if they didn't quiet down they would get evicted so everyone slowly left and or fell asleep. A few of us decided we were going to go back to Lauren's apartment and chill. When we were all sitting around Jon grabbed the iHome remote and started messing with Maria and Jordan... it went on for about 15 minutes before they realized it, it was awesomely hilarious. After that we just sat around for a while then went to bed at 5 a.m.

Saturday I went to a grad party then watched Knowing with Nicholas Cage... is it me, or is his acting getting worse and worse. After that we went to Kalamazoo and watched Angels and Demons. Before I say how I felt about it let me just state that I have read both that and DaVinci Code and the DaVinci Code movie made me super angry. Anywho, this movie was much better, at least as far as sticking to the book. It was fun watching my mom try and figure out everything as she has not read the book.

Sunday I did some laundry and read some. I FINALLY finished Anna Karinina after starting in in December. I really liked it, but it just took me forever! I just started Please Excuse My Daughter and it is a very fast read like I had hoped for... very funny book.

Today I had work then went for some ice cream with Brian... I love summer and ice cream :) Now Alison and I are catching up and watching NOW AND THEN... can I just tell you guys how much I love this movie, more and more everytime. Ali has never seen it... she's loving it!

Man so great... I'm gonna have to watch this more. Also I need to update more so I don't have these crazy long ones.

If you have just been skimming I'll post a picture I found that pretty much sums up my life right now.

Yup... that's about it haha. Hope your summers are going fabulously! Oh and I had this great idea to learn about my followers. So if you read this, and feel comfortable, post a fact not many people know about you. Mine: When I was 4 I won Little Miss Michigan... got the trophys/crowns/slashes/gowns in my basement to prove it! Your turn!

Oh and I love the kind of new All American Rejects c.d. so listen to the song!

I'm Not Lonely When I Miss You

Several ways to describe my life lately: Organized Chaos, hectic to the max, tiring, exciting.

Now don't get me wrong, by reading that you are probably thinking I'm like living the life, but I'm not really. I won't lie and say I'm living this super exciting summer, as of yet there hasn't been too much excitement. I started my internship at Michigan Department of Transportation Monday and while it is actually really fun, the hours are having their way with me. 7:30-4:30 is just not my time zone. I probably get the same if not more sleep than normal but I am exhausted. I have to fall asleep by 11:00 p.m. if I want a chance of staying awake for more than 15 minutes. I really hope I adjust soon.

I haven't really done anything else too exciting, although at MDOT I did get a hard hat, reflecty vest, safety googles and some steel toed boots. So now, as you can imagine, I am the definition of cool. I've only gotten to put all that stuff on once though because I'm working in the office designing projects, or rather helping design stuff, I'm in no way qualified to actually design it.

Anyways, I mostly wanted to post today to get you guys the video that is, as per usual, linked to the title. It is by my very close friend Eric Boff, I've known him for going on 17 years now so definitely give it a listen and then head over to and check out the new studio version of "I'm Not Lonely When I Miss You." He has so much talent and has always been there for me... he helped me with my 5th grade science project, I gotta help him back haha. If you've been reading and know about my best friend Alison he is her brother, and therefore practically my brother. So if you like it, comment and I'll pass the love onto him when I talk to him. Alright... it is 11:00 p.m. that is my bedtime haha.

I'll be sure to attempt to have a productive few days and do something exciting to share with you all. Hope your summers are a lot more fun, I'll live vicariously through your posts! Just think of me as you are living it up.

Boom Boom Pow

Wow... it has been a while since my last post. I've been busy, or at least pretending to be busy. Good news! I'm still alive after my finals... it was a little rough there in the thick of it, but I made it out. (Black Eyed Peas are my celebratory music, click on the title you know you love it.)

Monday I only had one final and it was pretty easy so that's always nice. Tuesday I technically had two exams but opted to take three that day and be done. I was worried after my first one pretty much had it's way with me but the second one was super easy, and the third was so so . After that I spent the week packing and moving things to the storage unit. After getting my stuff together I just tried to spend as much time with all my friends that were graduating as I could.

Tuesday night I watched Secret Life of Bees with the Washabaugh twins... lame Cinco de Mayo I know... but I just love those two haha. Wednesday Jordan came to visit and we went to see "Earth" it was so awesome... I want to adopt a panda, an elephant, and polar bear... all at the same time. Thursday night I went to the Lugnuts game (Lansing minor league baseball team) and instead of watching the game I played bags with Brett, Steve and Ashley. Such a fun game. Then we went to Rum Runners, which is a deuling piano bar and coincidently has half off everything on Thursdays. Long story short it was great. After the bar with went back to Jason's where he was having a graduation keg.

I love the fact that it's getting warm enough that walking home at 2 in the morning isn't cold to the point it's painful. Anyways, Friday I was going to go home early but then got distracted. Now everyone pay attention because this is important, what I got distracted by was TYPE IT IN RIGHT NOW AND GO. Get your friends and challenge them... it's a blasty blast. I wasted a few hours on that and finally got around to packing up my car, only to realize not everything would fit. So I brought it all back and settled in for the night.

Today I woke up and went to breakfast with my mom, breakfast is so good. After that I went to pick Brian up, we then headed to East Lansing where I packed more stuff in my car and somehow still managed to not get it all. Luckily Maria is the best and is bringing the rest this weekend. After loading up the car we met Erin, Jane and Lauren and went to Crunchy's for lunch... delicious as always. Then Brian and I went to go see "Star Trek" which was awesome... as a kid I was always a Star Wars kind of girl, but this movie was fantabulous! I kind of want to see it again, but I shall resist. I was suprised that it was so funny, so go see it.

The ride home was fast and after dropping Brian off I have spent the rest of the evening unloading and getting everything situated. Now it's almost midnight, which is usually early for me but I'm exhausted, so I think I'll do some reading and go to sleep. Speaking of reading though the last of afformentioned ginormous Amazon purchase came today! Now I just need to finish Anna Karinina so I can start reading the new ones!

Day 'n Night

This song has been stuck in my head for at least a week and a half now so I'm just gonna post it and get it over with haha. So hopefully it will get stuck in your head too!

The bar crawl was great as could be expected... we all made it a lot longer than I expected, we started at 12:30 p.m. and I left around 10:00 p.m. which is crazy. It was great to get the whole group together again, and just hang out. We also made it to several more bars than I expected (read: Crunchy's, Dublin, Harper's, Lou Ha's, El Azteco, and Peanut Barrel.) I'm sure there are a lot of stories I could tell but they probably wouldn't seem as funny now as they did then.

I went to bed at like 11:00 p.m. -11:30 p.m. I would say (read: passed out) and woke up at 3:30 a.m. when Maria got home. After I was up I could not fall asleep for the life of me, it was driving me crazy. So I started working on my note sheet for one of my exams and stayed awake until about 10:30 a.m. I was starting to get tired so when Maria was getting up I layed down and woke up again at 1:00 p.m. I've been studying since then, blahhh. But you gotta do what you gotta do, I have gotten one final grade so far and it was a 4.0, my GPA really needed it because my other grades probably won't be that good.

And since this post is thoroughly un-entertaining here's another comic!

Bittersweet Symphony

I have been waiting to post today's cover song forever! Just had to find a good video for it, it's gonna make your day... maybe change your life, who knows. Guess you just gotta click on it and find out. :)

On Wednesday we smashed our bridge projects we've been working on for class. Our balsa bridge weighed 19 g and failed at 90 lbs, so not too bad. Hopefully we get a good grade. The rest of Wednesday was spent studying for everyone of my classes. Thursday I had class all day and then played basketball with Allyssa. Keep in mind she's 6'9" so we should have one... but I have no defensive skills whatsoever, never had never will. I can however offer some awesome 3 point shooting skills, apparently not enough though because we lost every game we played. But they were all relatively close so it wasn't too bad.

Today I woke up sore from playing basketball because that's about the most physical activity I have had in forever. I didn't do much other than study, get 100% on a final, and go to see the new X-men movie which was AWESOME. I loved it, there hasn't been one I haven't loved so I don't know why I was worried. But everyone should go see it if you like X-men and seeing Hugh Jackman run away naked.

Tomorrow is a bar crawl so I'm pretty excited! Last week of school coming up! Oh and recently I found this. WTF?!?!?! Why would I want to wear my sleeping bag? This cancels out the possibility of snuggling in a sleeping bag, total fail in my book.
