Let's see... what have I done since the last post???? Oh that's right, I went to the Jack's Mannequin concert, even though they were technically the opening band I'm going to just say it was their concert because Andrew McMahon and co. owned, hence the title song. "Swim" is probably one of my favorite songs of theirs, right up there with "Mixed Tape". If we are adding Something Corporate into the mix (Andrew's other band) that adds a few more songs like "I won't make you" and "Space" (Go check all of those out... IMMEDIATELY).

So let's Tarantino this post and go back to the beginning shall we? Saturday I woke up a little earlier than I would have liked and we got the car packed up and headed out to take my cousin to the airport in Detroit. After we dropped her off at noon Alison and I had about 6 hours to waste until we had to meet Ashley and Brett for the concert. So we just headed in the general direction of the concert and ended up eating lunch at Red Robin then heading off to find a Target and a movie theatre. We got off at the Great Lakes Crossing exit (big mall with movie theatre and a Target) and we headed for the Target first. Let me set this up for you, Target on one side of the freeway, mall on the other. So we go to Target, get the stuff we wanted and then head off to the mall, which is visible on the other side of the freeway. I don't know if I've ever mentioned this, but I'm about as bad as you can get with directions. We didn't think we'd need the GPS because we could see the mall. Long story short, by the time we finally pulled out the GPS we were about 7 miles from the mall. I'm such an idiot.

When we finally got to Great Lakes Crossing for a movie and some shopping, we ended up seeing "My Sisters Keeper" and I made it through with just one solitary tear. I don't know why I cried though, in my opinion the book was much more sad. They changed the book quite a bit, well the ending at least. Alison was sobbing, she hadn't read the book, but let me tell her all about it afterward, what a great friend haha. We drove to the meeting spot and I gave Ashley as big of a hug as I could muster and we all sat down for some Corona's before going to the concert. Once parked we finished off the rest of the six pack and headed inside. Right at the door we saw Ashley, Maria, Lauren and Kiera so we chit chatted and then headed to our seats.

We all got some drinks along the way and sat down with 2 songs left for the opening band. Like I already said Jack's killed it as per usual. At the break I went to hunt down some more friends then went to the merch booth. I already have a Jack's shirt among my collection of 50+ so I decided on a wristband that said SWIM (click the title if you haven't already). Alison by this point had more drinks than I could count and was feeling great. The Fray came out and did their thing, they were really good too. We had a crazy old lady who I can only describe as "feeling the music" she was crazy. We left before the encore in hopes of beating the crowd. I said goodbye to Ashley, I wish she didn't live in Cinci so we could hang out more.

This is the point in the night where Ali's drunken shenanigans went from funny to not as funny. Eventually on the 2 hour ride home she fell asleep and I just rocked out. Not much has happened since then. Just some sleeping, reading, laying out, the usual. Today I went to visit one of my old teachers and she didn't recognize me. Apparently I've changed a lot since she saw me last year? I don't know. Anyways, tomorrow my cousin is supposed to have her baby, so I'm trying to get loose ends tied up so I can spend time with her.

And now for the picture I promised of Maria's dad's Corvette. Yep... that's him in the background thinking "What the hell am I doing?!" Oh yeah... I drove that.

And just for funsies a comic!

I had a few more things to post but this is getting super long. I'll post again soon! Hopefully with a picture of my new baby 2nd cousin! Oh and if you saw/read My Sisters Keeper let me know what you thought! Also I took some videos at the concert so I'll post those soon and post the link.

Faces in Disguise

Still no pictures yet (big surprise) I just haven't got around to it. And for those of you who still click on my links I apologize for the anime video, I just could not find an actual video for this song that wasn't the Paramore cover. This band is a must though, his voice is haunting, I love it!

So Thursday after work I did some quick shopping then went home and finished reading "Firefly Lane" let's just say I was a blubbering mess. And I don't cry easily... I can name only 3 movies I've cried at my entire life.
1) My Dog Skip, isn't it weird how we can watch people get blown up all day but the moment an animal is hurt we are all "oh no you didn't" *waves finger sassily in the air*
2) Lilo & Stitch, this one I can't explain, only happened the first time I saw it. I blame it on allergies.
3) P.S. I Love You, man, I don't think I stopped crying in this movie. I think it was my reaction to have Gerard Butler and his accent taken from the world haha.

Anyways, back to the point, I was cruising through the book then got to the end and lost it. I wasn't just crying I was sobbing in my bed. Luckily no one was there to witness it, Thursday evening, 11:00, Jeanette is a blubbering mess. Anyways, after wiping my eyes several times because they were too full of tears to read I finally made it through and went to bed.

I was exhausted all day today, Fridays at work just aren't my thing I guess. I did probably 15 minutes of work in the last 2 hours, mostly I just stared at my computer screen and talked with everyone about Michael Jackson stealing Farrah's thunder. It was so crazy that both died on the same day. I posted a Facebook status about it and no one believed me. I love Michael Jackson's music, but the predominant memory I have containing him is visiting the hotel in Berlin where he held his baby, Blanket, over the balcony. I was gonna post a video of his today but struggled so much to pick just one that I quit. And who really didn't love Farrah, I mean, best selling poster of all time?! I was a huge Charlie's Angel's fan growing up. My grandparents had old shows recorded, so after watching cartoons I would watch old episodes of Charlie's Angels, Golden Girls, and Gilligan's Island. Such a tragic day.

Man, I cannot stop yawning, it's getting real annoying. I suppose I should go to bed soon anyways so I can wake up early and take my cousin to the airport. After that Alison and I are going to waste a few hours (possibly seeing My Sisters Keeper, which I read, and didn't cry, that's how sad "Firefly Lane" was... more sad than My Sisters Keeper). After wasting about 5 hours we are going to meet up with Ashely and go to The Fray/Jack's Mannequin concert *squeee* I'm so excited this will be my second time seeing the Fray (met Issac the first time) and my 4th time seeing Jack's Mannequin!

In honor of Farrah Fawcett and all her achievements (including this, one of the number one selling poster of all time):

And in honor of Michael Jackson here is one of my favorites, I love when he was young, he was always passionate about his music, but I think even more so when he was young.

Michael Jackson- Beat it

So there you have it. I wasn't initially planning on writing of the deaths, but clearly I don't follow plans haha. Have a great weekend and I will be back with pictures hopefully Sunday!

My Dear

Where is my time going, like really, someone tell me. It seems like the last time I posted was a few days ago when in fact it was Friday! I was planning on posting several pictures from my weekend because it was awesome but I haven't uploaded them yet, so I'll do that some other time.

Saturday I went to the Tigers game and they won, it was a lot of fun (what I remember of it, I drank two really tall daiquiris in the first inning, so the next four were a little fuzzy). Getting to hang out with everyone was great though, I miss them all, it sucks they all graduated! After the game Kevin picked me up and then we went to a grad party down the street from their house for someone I didn't know. After making a quick stop there we went to Target for fun and this crazy guy came up and started talking all sorts of stuff. "I've never been convicted of a sex crime, I just want you to know that" UMMMMM what?!? Only in Farmington Hills. After those shenanigans we went back and watched Role Models and I begged Maria's dad to let me drive his Corvette.

Sunday morning we woke up and went to breakfast at Denny's and I'm happy to announce that after some persistent questioning Gary let me drive his 6 speed 2008 Corvette! It was awesome, he and I rode in it to Denny's while Maria followed and after more begging he even allowed Maria and I to ride in it back to their house while he followed in her car. Right after we got back I drove to Grand Rapids for Allyssa's 21st, I felt bad because she has mono and is on medicine and couldn't go drink! But the extra detour was totally worth it because her mom gave me brownies and they were sooooo delicious.

Other than that work has been work as usual. On Monday Nicole and I attempted some of my new p90x workout videos, we didn't get very far though, apparently just watching the workout video doesn't count as working out, who knew? I blame it on her new puppy, it's so cute it's very distracting. After each of our barely there workout sessions we watched some Arrested Development, I'm trying to get her hooked. Today I didn't workout, instead I went to see the new Transformers, I'm such a nerd, but it was awesome. I'm always amazed at the kinds of effects they can do. I have such a busy week ahead of me, I hope you guys all have some free time, let me know if you see/saw Transformers and what you think/thought of it!

Oh and the title song is my jam right now, I love New Years Day, but she must have been scorned hard core. Probably some of the most bitter songs you will ever hear, especially "You'll Only Make it Worse" Check them out!

Toxic (cover)

Guess what I bought todayyyyyy?!?!?!?!?!?! BRITNEY SPEARS TICKETS!!!! Can you tell I'm excited? So you get a Britney cover today, not as good as the last cover but what are you gonna do? This video is slightly creepy because it's a guy singing over the video, but I had to post it because it just shows Britney being awesome. I almost posted All-American Rejects cover of Womanizer, so check that out if you feel like some entertainment.

I can't believe how bad the weather is right now! It hasn't been like summer at all! I'm probably going to regret saying that soon because I'm sure we will have a heat wave now. Last night there were crazy storms, usually I can sleep right through them, but I woke up last night because a tree broke right next to my window. There were trees down all over the place, craziness. Anyway, I didn't have to work today because the government has no money so we were forced to take 6 furlough days (unpaid days off). After I bought the Britney tickets this morning and had a blended mocha I got ready and hit the road to Farmington Hills.

Right now I'm at Maria's house, she is my best friend/back plan for my future years. We have decided that if in 30 years we aren't married we will marry each other. Laugh all you want, but it's becoming more and more of a reality haha. Neither of us are going anywhere in the dating world, who knows why, alright so maybe we won't marry each other, but we will definitely live together so we aren't alone when we get older.

Since arriving here we have gone to the mall, which was kind of sad, I love Delia's and we don't have any on the west side of Michigan, but there was nothing good there today. We went to H&M and I bought two sweaters, because, as you know, everyone needs sweaters in the summer. They were cute and on sale, I couldn't resist. Is it me or am I using way too many commas right now? I don't think I ever learned the correct procedure. After the mall we came back and have been watching Madea Goes to Jail lol. I think we are about to go to dinner with her mom and then to go see either The Proposal or Year One. I'll get back to you on that, but for now I have to take care of some stuff.

Both Ana from far Away and Mary Evelan tagged me for the Honest Scrap Award. The rules for this award are to tell your readers 10 things about you that are true, that they might not know. Then you have to tag 10 other bloggers to do the same. So here goes....

1) Lima beans are my favorite vegetable.
2) I am convinced I will marry someone Asain, I think it has something to do with my best friend of 17 years being Asain.
3) I would love to graduate and work in Russia, I'll even settle for anywhere overseas.
4) I think I would be happier being a band groupie than being in college.
5) I can quote movies like it's my job.
6) I would love to be on the round table on Chelsea Lately.
7) I wish I lived in Harry Potter's world.
8) I hate hate hate getting rained on when I'm dressed in regular clothes, I just feel so gross.
9) Up until yesterday I always thought red skittles were cherry, my world was shattered when I found out they were strawberry.
10) I want to buy a motorcycle... reallllll bad. And then a leather jacket and of course a pink helmet.

Well there you go, and as for tagging 10 bloggers let's go with:
1) The Girl With the Pink Teacup
2) A Rush of Blog to the Head
3) Boredom's Bounty
4) Chatabox
5) Deployment Woes
6) Don't You Know It's Insane
7) FWB
8) Growing Up a New Jersey Wife
9) Jessy
10) Just Add Walter

Phhhww, this is turning out to be a long post, I decided to wait to post until after the evenings shenanigans, and when I say shenanigans I mean pure, unadulterated shenanigans. We went to Chicken King for dinner to see our roommate Erin who was working it was delicious and the night was going great. So we headed out to a theatre and by the time we got there it was raining, luckily I had my trusty umbrella, so we went in and both movies were sold out, so we walked back to the car and headed to another movie theatre. When we got there it was still raining so the umbrellas was of great use, the movie wasn't sold out so we bought two tickets to The Proposal, super cute and funny, if only a little predictable (Sandra Bullock/Betty White are awesome, if you haven't check out the link where I post videos).

We could hear the thunder in he movie theatre so we knew we were in for some rain. So we readied the umbrella and got took our sandles off so it would be more comfortable to walk. This is where the shenanigans start. We are standing in the door and Maria goes to open the umbrella at which point it does what all umbrellas inevitably do and flips inside out. So here we are in a torrential downpour with my car parked at the end of the parking lot.

We decide to mak a run for it, but I went a few seconds before her which led to me in the parking lot yelling "MARIA, WHERE'S THE CAR" After finding it we made it in and sat there soaking and trying to figure out where the night went wrong. We drove back to her house and were ready to be dry. So I get out and go try to hide under the awning of the garage while I type in their garage code, which because the power was on the fritz wasn't working. We stood there for about 2 minutes just cracking up at this situation. Then Maria called her mom and she opened the side door, drawback to that is that the side door was about 50 feet from the garage. So I round the corner and run right into the grill and wind up just standing in the rain anyway waiting for the door to be opened.

Now I'm sitting her in a towel trying to figure out why there is so much rain in June. Damn weather. Sorry that this is such a long post! Have a great weekend!

Sex On Fire (Cover)

Man, I searched and searched and searched for a video for this cover but could not find any, thus you are left with just a recording, but trust me, it's all worth it. Now I know what some of you are thinking "but Jeanette...didn't you already have a blog entitled Sex on Fire?" And you are correct, I did in fact already use this title, but this cover just blew the original out of the water. It's by Charlotte Sometimes, and if you don't have her c.d. go buy it IMMEDIATELY! I could listen to it all day. I saw her like a year and a half ago in East Lansing at this shady bar and her set wasn't working and she was super cool and just sat down and had a conversation with me while they were fixing it. Then I talked to her at her tent at Warped Tour, I'd post the picture but I'm pretty sure I'm really burnt in it if I remember correctly. But anyway, she's awesome so go find all the Charlotte Sometimes you can and you can thank me afterward. :) CLICK ON THE TITLE NOW!

My life hasn't magically gotten very exciting since my last post, yesterday after work I did some spring cleaning inside my car, it was so dirty I couldn't stand it anymore, now it's clean as a whistle (are whistles really that clean?) After cleaning my car I met Alison (my best friend, you may be familiar if you've read earlier posts, if you haven't, we've been friends for going on 17 years.) We went to Build-a-bear, I mean clearly that's where 21 year olds go, and made bears that represented us... then we traded. I know, you are thinking we are way too cool right now haha. It was fun though, after those shenanigans we went to Olive Garden for dinner. So good.

After dinner I drove over to Best Buy to buy Madea Goes to Jail, I pretty much love that movie. And that is my life in a nut shell. I was tagged by Ana from far away for the HonestScrap award, but I haven't had time to think about it, so I'll get around to it next post.

Anyway, I'd like to say thanks to all my new followers * :) * I love getting new followers, hopefully I keep it exciting enough that you don't leave!

Whoa, I just checked my old posts to see what other post Charlotte Sometimes was tagged in and it was a post from when I went to see Madea Goes to Jail.... that's kind of creepy right? I'm severely creeped by that.

In A Sweater Poorly Knit

It took me a long time to get into Mewithoutyou but once I did I can't get enough it's like heroin, I'm not sure what would be my gateway drug in this case though. Wow, that was off topic and super confusing. I apologize.

Anyways, I haven't done much this weekend, besides going to see Taking of Pelham 123 and going to Olive Garden. That was such an intense movie, John Travolta was OUT OF CONTROL. But it was really good. We saw a preview for a new Leo DiCaprio movie and it looked pretty awesome. Olive Garden was great as always, I love bread sticks.

On to the real point of this post I just wanted to share with you the awesome purchase I made today... I don't really know if you can handle it... are you ready.
Should I post a picture or just tell you, alright I'm going to post a picture, but I don't want you go get jealous of my purchase, or how awesome I am for having purchased this haha.
Alright here it is.

Yep, that's right, I purchased every season of Dinosaurs on DVD. I'm so excited to get them. You don't even know. I also purchased Freaks and Geeks. Yeah, I know, I have a problem. Oh well, what're you gonna do.

Friday, June 12, 2009

So, I just finished "A Wild Sheep Chase" and I was super confused until the last 20 pages, I'm unsure how I feel about that. Now I don't know what to start next, but I will have plenty of time because it will not stop raining! I mean it didn't rain today while I was at work, but of course I was at work so I couldn't enjoy it.

Anywho, I have been on a Spill Canvas kick lately, I want an I.V. of Spill Canvas at all times. Hence the title songs. For some reason about 90% of the time I like acoustic versions of songs better. Is anyone else like that? I don't know what it is, but if you slap an acoustic guitar on something I'm there.

I don't know if I have anything else particularly interesting to say, I mostly just wanted to share that song. Lately it's just been work and helping my uncle with the bathroom in the basement or running errands. I cannot wait for school to start back up, I have so much more free time.

Oh before I forget! check out the new video at the top of the links over there in the funny video links so hilarious. It's a promotion for The Proposal, usually I'm not one for chick flicks, but this one looks really funny, mostly because it has Betty White in it, and I love her. I wish she were like my grandma or something, that would be awesome.

Has anyone seen Drag Me To Hell? I kind of want to see it. Scary movies don't usually scare me, but I've heard it's actually pretty good, plus it's got Justin Long, so I think I can deal with that!

After scrapbooking with my friend Carey some more I can now say that I just respect people with that skill even more, it is not something I possess, luckily she does so it's all good. Wow, this post is so random, sorry about that, my mind is all over the place. Maybe when I get it together I'll post some more probably the end of the weekend I would say. Have a great weekend everyone!

Oh and just for funsies, here is another comic :)

Sorry it's so small... biggest it gets :(

Alright, this post is gonna be all over the place, fair warning.

First things first, so I'm sitting here drinking my Kook-Aid and I have a huge problem I need to discuss. So, I'm sure I can safely assume that Ice Blue Raspberry Lemonade is everyones favorite Kool-Aid, ESPECIALLY mine. It's probably one of the most delicious drinks ever. When I'm home it's all I drink and there in lies the problem. Now I'm sure you are all aware of the options of Kool-Aid, it comes in the little packages that are like .10 cents that is semi-inconvenient (read: I'm probably the laziest person you will ever meet). And it also comes in a very convienent large tub of powder. With the large size you don't have to add sugar it's just like BAMM instant delisciousness.

My question to Kool-Aid, why in the eff do they not sell Ice Blue Raspberry Lemonade in the large convienent tub?!?!? I mean really, I don't see how it couldn't be one of the top flavors, at least better than Grape and they sell Grape in the large size! Grape is so gross... I love grapes, but grape flavoring makes me want to go all exorcist on everyone around me (yes, it's really that bad.) But anyway, if anyone knows where I can find an answer to this please let me know. :)

Alright, after that shpeal (I don't think that's spelled right, for correct pronunciation sound it out like a 1st grader, because that's how I came up with it) I should probably just give a quick summary of my weekend.
1) Started working on the scrapbook (read: Carey had time to help me (read: She did it all)).
2) Broke several strings on my guitar.
3) Saw the Hangover. Very funny, but I have to stop seeing movies after everyone raves about how funny it is... get's my expectations too high.
4) Reading in bed and other like shannanigans.
5) I definitely feel like I'm missing something, but can't be sure.
6) Oh yes, now I remember... Wait for it.... Laundry, that's right, I'm awesome.
7) And last but not least on Friday I saw Land of the Lost (Not Ferrell's best work) but I took my friend home and she had kittens. They were sooooo cute, she named two of them Spock and Tiberius and I named the other two Hef and Holly. Adorable.

Well that's about it, I'm about to go to bed. Oh and hello to all my new followers, thanks for the love!

P.S. Comic, I couldn't resist.

Leave the Pieces

Is this summer flying by or is it just me? I feel like I do a lot but every time I sit down to write I realize that I was wrong and I am in fact really lame.

I don't think I did anything terribly exciting this week. The usual shopping, movies, etc. I am now taking part in Office Wars 2009 (read: I started it). We have those air cans to clean your keyboard with and if you turn them upside down (which it cautions against, so why wouldn't I?) they spray out like super cold moisture that freezes your skin. So I'm sitting cleaning my bosses office (my job for the day, which coincidentally led to me totally breaking the paper shredder.) and we decide we should surprise spray someone with the super cold air. Obvious choice, Kerry, mainly because we get along, plus she's cool like that. So I go over and she's on the phone, I carefully direct the air nozzle at the back of her throat and spray a little bit. This simple action resulted in probably the funniest thing I have seen in a really long time. She falls out of her chair, in the process hanging up on her husband and starts making sounds like a hairball for approximately 2.5 minutes.

Immediately upon pulling herself together she starts talking all about revenge and whatnot, this is Tuesday. Flash forward to the next day, late afternoon. Allison (another co-op) comes in from out in the field and says "so your car has about 25-30 magnets on the right side." Of course I know who did it, so when Kerry, Jason and Steve went across the street to McDonalds I quickly maneuver the magnets (which were for septic tank cleanup, lovely really) onto Kerry's car and drive away laughing as they realize what has taken place. I went to work Thursday and my wireless mouse was gone, but upon a quick search of Kerry's office it was retrieved, all-in-all, a great week at the office.

Thursday was Kevin's birthday, it brought out all those memories again. His facebook is still up and judging by the outpouring of love on his wall he had truly had an impact on so many peoples lives. To this day I still have great memories of hilarious things that Kevin did and it's so sad that he is not still with us. I texted his brother Bill, who is one of the nicest people ever, he is so concerned about everyone else when we are all just worried about him! I guess it makes for a great support system for all. Anyways, Happy Belated Birthday Kevin! I hope you had some Boskey bombs and dance your heart out.

Man, this post is super long, but I still have to talk about one very exciting thing! One of my great friends, Tyne, who has now discovered my blog and commented on almost every post, bless her little heart, is getting married in December. AND, I am, wait for it... a bridesmaid. I'm not sure why this hasn't come up before now because I'm so super pumped about it. I have already volunteered my services to be "That Girl" at their wedding so that's exciting. Anyways, this brings me to my other point about how awesome Tyne is and how I could not be happier for her. I don't know if she remembers this, but the title song, Leave the Pieces by the Wreckers just reminds me of her every time.

She used to work at the ice cream shop with me and she had been dating this d-bag forever (to her credit he wasn't always a d-bag, just at the end). Anyways, one day they broke up and all I really remember is just wanting to be there for her. Breakups are the pits and it's great to just get distracted from them. So we are going to a movie and I had my iPod hooked up listening to music and this song comes on and she started like, sniffing and crying a little. One part of me thought "I should probably change this, I don't like when people cry around me." The other more helpful side thought "Although she is crying, she needs this to get through it and move on." I kept the song on through the awkwardness and eventually she got over it and then met Doug, which brings us back to the wedding taking place in December. Great example of that saying "Sometimes things must fall apart so that others may fall together."
